(firmenpresse) - Brisbane cinematographer and director Jay Palmer has officially expanded his film production services across Australia. Known for his compelling storytelling and sharp visual craft, Jay is now available to travel beyond Brisbane, scale up with custom crews, and offer flexible budget options to meet the needs of clients in corporate, commercial, and documentary sectors.

“This year, I’ve had a few clients express an interest in flying me to different cities to work on projects,” says Jay. “Previously, this would only happen a couple of times a year, but demand has increased. That’s what inspired me to grow my services beyond Brisbane.”
To support this, Jay has invested in larger Pelican hard cases, making it easier—and safer—to fly with high-grade camera gear. “Flying with camera equipment is always challenging due to the amount of gear required for each project,” he says. “The padded hard cases ensure everything arrives safely at each destination.”
Beyond equipment, Jay has also built a broader network of creative professionals across different cities, allowing him to take on more ambitious projects. “I’ve collaborated with other creatives in different cities, which means I can service larger projects for my clients,” he explains. “If a client approaches me with a great concept and wants to collaborate, the location should not be an issue.”
“Being mobile will open myself up to a new network of businesses and brands,” he adds. “And I can’t wait to help them reach their full potential through my filmmaking.”
 Scaling Up for Creative Impact
“Working with a larger crew always has its benefits,” Jay says. “It speeds up the filming process and creates a more polished product for the client.”
Depending on the project and budget, Jay will always pitch the idea of bringing on additional crew such as gaffers, grips, sound recordists, and camera assistants. “Having someone who’s an expert in the craft offers a wealth of expertise,” he notes, “and the end product will always look and sound better than if it was a one-man band style of shoot.”

He recalls a recent sunrise shoot on a large deck. “We were pressed for time as we wanted to capture the sun behind the actors. We were able to delegate tasks with the crew, which ensured we could set up quickly and get the shot.”
Jay values the collaborative nature of a good team. “Their wealth of knowledge means they can offer different solutions that might work best for specific scenarios. They also have specialized equipment which can tackle almost any project.”
Client-Centered Budget Flexibility
Jay is also introducing greater flexibility when it comes to client budgets.
“I feel like quotes should always be flexible,” he says. “If a startup reaches out to me and they have an amazing vision, I’ll always be open to listening. I want to be able to service both large-scale clients and new ones that are just branching out into video work.”
“A great concept and vision are always key to storytelling,” he continues, “and I don’t want cost to hinder that.”
This year, he’s been more open to collaborating on budgets, offering multiple quote tiers with transparency about what each includes. “We might have to think outside of the box when approaching each job,” he explains. “For example, if it’s an outdoor shoot and the client doesn’t have the budget for a gaffer or lighting equipment, we might look at filming at better times of the day or choosing a location that works with those limitations.”
“One thing I’ve found is that clients appreciate when you respect their budget and still deliver professional results. It shows you’re resourceful, honest, and understand the value of money.”
Jay sums it up simply: “Being budget-friendly doesn’t mean cutting corners—it means being smart and strategic. Constraints often lead to inovation.”
Technology that Serves the Story
Storytelling remains at the core of Jay’s approach—and technology is a vital part of that. “I’ve been investing and renting equipment that best suits my client’s needs,” he explains. “This can be through specific camera and lens choices, rigging or grip equipment, or hiring drones.”
Jay emphasizes that every project is different, and the tools should match the story. “It’s always a good idea to start by thinking of what tools can better help tell their story.”
Looking Ahead
As he looks to the future, Jay is focused on scaling without sacrificing quality. “I can’t wait to offer the same amazing quality of work that I have been giving my clients in Brisbane to other businesses across Australia,” he says.
“My goals are to comfortably service new clients in Sydney and Melbourne, while maintaining my current clients in Brisbane,” he adds. “The benefit of being able to travel means that prospective businesses, clients, and brands won’t have to worry about differentiating storytelling techniques or a potential loss in quality.”
Ultimately, Jay’s vision is about growth. “My goals for the future are to work on larger scaled jobs and offer clients the services akin to a full production.”
