The research department at Bank of America has investigated the potential of small modular reactors (SMRs) and concluded that they are gaining in importance. In view of rising energy demand – caused in part by AI and data centers – small reactors score points for greater safety, lower space requirements, affordability, lower CO2 emissions, and modularization. SMRs could thus redefine the economic viability of the nuclear industry. Mini reactors require less land and are designed as prefabricated versions of conventional large reactors. This also reduces construction times. Today, around 80 commercial SMR designs are in development. They are aimed at a wide range of applications and different power ranges.

In addition, they can be mass-produced in factories, so that construction time is usually less than three years. Most of them require highly enriched uranium (HALEU), which ensures higher efficiency and thus lower costs. Due to their smaller size compared to large reactors, SMRs can be shut down more quickly and require less coolant. SMRs can usually be operated independently of the power grid, which gives them flexibility. Due to the constantly increasing demand for energy, large technology companies are increasingly investing in their future power supply.

Sweden, for example, is planning to build five mini reactors in southern Sweden. France also wants to conduct feasibility studies on mini reactors. Investors interested in the growing demand for uranium may wish to consider IsoEnergy or Uranium Royalty.

IsoEnergy - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/isoenergy-ltd/ - has high-grade uranium properties in Saskatchewan. Other uranium projects are located in Australia, Argentina, and the US. The Larocque East project in the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan is likely to be particularly high-grade.

Uranium Royalty - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/uranium-royalty-corp/ - stands out as the only royalty company in the uranium market. This offers investors unique diversification in the uranium sector.
