Proven design - new hybrid functionality
(PresseBox) - In modern technical systems, safe and compact connections for signal, control, and power lines are essential. Combination D-SUB connectors provide an efficient solution by integrating different contact types into a single, robust connector housing. This reduces wiring complexity, streamlines system design, and simplifies maintenance and component replacement.
Whether in industrial automation, vehicle and marine control systems, energy installations, or aerospace applications, these connectors ensure reliable data transmission—even under demanding environmental conditions.
Combination D-SUB connectors offer the advantage of adding new functionality to a proven connector footprint. This is achieved by using various contact types without changing the connector’s overall shape, size, or mounting dimensions.
By incorporating high-current contacts, device power can be supplied without an additional power interface. High-voltage contacts enable operating voltages of up to 2.8 kV. High-speed signal transmission over shielded coaxial lines is achieved through the use of dedicated coaxial contacts.
As standard - except for the crimp version - the connectors are supplied with signal contacts. High-current, high-voltage, and coaxial contacts can be ordered separately or supplied pre-assembled.
Connector layouts available without signal contacts include 2W2C, 3W3, 3W3C, 5W5, and 8W8. With five housing sizes and a wide range of combinations featuring high-current, power, and coaxial contacts, CONEC D-SUB Combination connectors offer greater flexibility than is typically available on the market.
Application Examples:
CONEC D-SUB Combination connectors are used in a wide range of demanding applications, including image-guided medical technology. In interventional radiology devices and cardiovascular X-ray systems, they serve as the interface between the motor and the motion controller.
They ensure reliable signal and power transmission—even in very tight installation spaces—while guaranteeing accurate and uninterrupted delivery of critical control and status information.
In the maritime sector, D-SUB Combination connectors are used in engine and propulsion control systems. They are integrated into motor status control panels, where they consolidate signal and control lines between engine controllers, sensors, and display units. For example, a single connector can transmit engine temperature, oil pressure, rotational speed, and alarm states to the central monitoring and control system.
The robust design of these combination connectors ensures reliable performance despite vibrations, moisture, and temperature fluctuations commonly encountered in marine environments.
By combining signal and power contacts in a single housing, they reduce wiring complexity and simplify both maintenance and the replacement of individual components.
