Alma Media: Editors-in-Chief of four local newspapers changing

EDITORS-IN-CHIEF OF FOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPERS CHANGING
The Editors-in-Chief of Jämsän Seutu, Vekkari, Valkeakosken Sanomat and
Pyhäjokiseutu, all newspapers published by the Alma Media company Suomen
Paikallissanomat Oy, will change on December 1, 2011. The rotating positions
will be filled from within Suomen Paikallissanomat.
Mr Jukka Ignatius, 57, the Editor-in-Chief of Valkeakosken Sanomat, has been
invited as Editor-in-Chief for Jämsän Seutu and Vekkari. Before Valkeakoski, Mr
Ignatius has held the position of Editor-in-Chief at Suur-Keuruu, KMV and
Sotkamo. Jämsän Seutu appears four times a week, and the city paper Vekkari once
weekly.
Mr Simo Husso, 46, the Editor-in-Chief of Pyhäjokiseutu in Oulainen, has been
invited as Editor-in-Chief for Valkeakosken Sanomat. Mr Husso's earlier
positions include those of Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of Urjalan
Sanomat, writer and associate editor at Nokian Uutiset, as well as producer in
the joint production function at Suomen Paikallissanomat. Valkeakosken Sanomat
appears five times a week.
Ms Sirpa Kortet, 35, has been invited as Editor-in-Chief of Pyhäjokiseutu. Ms
Kortet's education includes QBA, media assistant and BEng in media technology.
After her studies, Ms Kortet began at Pyhäjokiseutu in the position of writer
and layout artist in 2005 and moved on to the position of news producer in
2009. Pyhäjokiseutu appears twice weekly.
The present Editor-in-Chief of Jämsän Seutu and Vekkari, Mr Pekka Hyytinen, will
go on part-time pension and assume the role of a special reporter starting from
January 1, 2012.
Suomen Paikallissanomat Oy is Alma Media Corporation's local paper company
publishing 17 subscription-based and 3 city papers in different parts of
Finland.
