Margolis to Be Pumerantz Lecture Speaker
(firmenpresse) - POMONA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/07/11 -- Dr. Robert Margolis, Managing Partner and CEO of HealthCare Partners, will be the featured speaker at the third annual Dr. Philip Pumerantz Distinguished Lectureship at Western University of Health Sciences.
The lecture will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, in Lecture Hall I of the Health Education Center on the WesternU campus, 309 E. 2nd St., Pomona, Calif. Dr. Margolis' topic is "The Future of Health Care Delivery: A Physician's Perspective."
The lecture also will be available live online. The webcast link can be found at . The feed is scheduled to go live at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, approximately 15 minutes prior to the lecture start.
The lectureship, in honor of WesternU's founder and president, Dr. Philip Pumerantz, was established in 2009 as part of a $5.1 million pledge to WesternU by Drs. Daljit and Elaine Sarkaria of Orange.
"Improving patient care delivery by teaching all of our health professions students to work collaboratively is one of the main goals of our institution," Dr. Pumerantz said. "I believe Dr. Margolis' experience and visionary leadership at the ground level, where the patient becomes an individual and is treated as such by the team at Healthcare Partners, is a timely topic for us to discuss this year."
The Sarkarias dedicated $100,000 of their pledge to create the lectureship to encourage and foster exemplary medical research, education and quality patient care.
Dr. Margolis was a founding partner and the managing partner of HealthCare Partners' predecessor, California Primary Physicians Medical Group, and has been managing partner and CEO of HealthCare Partners since its formation in 1992. Under his leadership, HealthCare Partners has become a highly respected and innovative physician-owned and operated medical group, independent physician association, and management services organization.
Dr. Margolis is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. He is a graduate of Rutgers University (high honors - Henry Rutgers Scholar), and the Duke University Medical School (AOA), and served a fellowship at the National Cancer Institute.
