The award was presented at theNedbank Capital Green Mining Awards ceremony held in Johannesburglast week.The Nedbank Socio-Economic Award was made by a panel of independentand expert adjudicators following an interview and three day sitevisit to examine the work of KMAD and meet with projectbeneficiaries. The awards attracted a record number of entries thisyear, with a good number of quality entries, resulting in stiffcompetition. Nedbank is one of the largest banking groups in SouthAfrica.Nedbank particularly praised the fact that KMAD's development workbegan before mining commenced, that it has an overall strategicvision and a 'bottom up' approach, as well as close partnerships withinternational and local Non-Governmental Organisations and Governmentbodies.Just four weeks ago, Kenmare Resources plc won the President's Awardfor the best International CSR Programme from the Chambers ofCommerce of Ireland, in association with the Irish GovernmentDepartment of Community Affairs, at a ceremony in Dublin.KMAD works alongside the community, business, Non-GovernmentalOrganisations and Government to run and support projects ineducation, income generation, health, savings & credit, sports andfood security.Charles Carvill, Chairman said "We are delighted that the work ofKMAD has been recognised with this highly respected award.
