Expanded Mental Health Services Offered at The Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York

"We assist by providing counseling and treatment coordination by a multi-disciplinary team of licensed professionals in the fields of social work, psychology, psychiatry and vocational rehabilitation. With almost half a century of experience serving persons with epilepsy and related conditions, the Gramercy Center staff recognizes that chronic medical conditions come with numerous physical, emotional and social consequences. It's friendly, professional environment and experienced staff provide tailored support and counseling and everyone is treated as an individual with unique experiences and life issues.
The Center provides a number of specific treatments, including:
Individual Psychotherapy with a licensed social worker or psychologist to identify and develop a personal plan to address emotional well-being,
Family Therapy which offers an opportunity to involve family members in treatment,
Group therapy with other individuals for support and discussion on topics relevant to health and well being, and
Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management with a psychiatrist who can provide an evaluation of current emotional functioning and make recommendations on the best course of treatment. Medication and on-going management is also available.
