New Book Celebrates the Visual Richness of Cleveland
Noted Cleveland Photographer, Jennie Jones, Releases "Cleveland Inside Outside," a Personal, Photographic Journey of Cleveland's Changing Urban Landscape
(firmenpresse) - CLEVELAND, OH -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- Jennie Jones, a commercial architectural photographer, announced today that her new book, "," has been released and is available at and local Cleveland book stores. Considered to be "the ultimate coffee table book," is a stunning visual record of the transformation of Cleveland's urban landscape over the last thirty years. The 187-page book contains images from the city's major development projects including Gateway, Tower City and Key Center.
"It is my hope that this book will honor the men and women who have helped build and preserve the landmarks that have made Cleveland one of the great American cities," said Jennie Jones. "I would like people to remember how much we have achieved in a very short period of time and that we must continue to build our city for the future and the generations to come. truly captures my ongoing 'love affair' with the city of Cleveland."
In 2010, Jennie Jones donated approximately 22,000 images to the Michael Schwartz Library, Special Collections at Cleveland State University representing thirty years of her work. "Her work is a priceless record of Cleveland's heritage of construction and design," said Arnold Berke, the Senior Contributing Editor of Preservation magazine. "She is a creative artist with strong individual aesthetics who has dedicated her life to sharing the beauty of Cleveland with the world."
Images from the book can also be seen in a special exhibit at The Bonfoey Gallery from October 14 - November 11, 2011. An artist's talk will be held at the gallery on Thursday, October 20 at 6:00 PM.
Jennie Jones was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She attended the Layton School of Art (now Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design), the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center and was graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in art history. After attending graduate school at Northwestern, she served on the education staff at the Milwaukee Art Center for 11 years. She moved to Cleveland with her family in 1978 and, in 1983, established her own studio specializing in architectural photography. She has published several books on Cleveland and was juried into its bicentennial book . Her work has appeared in numerous local and national publications including World Architecture, Inland Architect, Forbes and Fortune magazines and is represented in many private and corporate collections. In 2006 she received an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Cleveland State University. In 2008 she became a Fellow in the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce in London, England.
