Providers Can Now Satisfy Meaningful Use Requirements While Still Documenting on Paper

(firmenpresse) - NASHVILLE, TN -- (Marketwire) -- 10/13/11 -- Shareable Ink®, a leading provider of cloud-based software to aid the transition from paper documentation to electronic health records (EHR), today announced that it has achieved 2011/2012 EHR Modular* ONC-ATCB Certification. The award designates the software as capable of supporting providers with Stage 1 Meaningful Use (MU) measures required to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Shareable Ink was certified as an Ambulatory EHR Module on September 30, 2011 under ICSA Labs' ONC-ATCB Electronic Health Record program and is compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The certification means that any physician working in ambulatory care settings, whether a practice or an ambulatory surgery center, can now use digital pen and paper to help satisfy MU requirements.

Shareable Ink President and CEO Stephen S. Hau said the company will pursue certification of additional modules as well as Inpatient EHR certification. "This certification supports our mission of helping healthcare organizations become more electronic without disruptive changes to clinical or back-office workflows," Hau said. "Our powerful cloud-based approach modernizes traditional paper-based processes by making paper a keyboard-equivalent and does not require expensive or cumbersome IT projects."

ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon, offers vendor-neutral testing and certification testing. Its electronic health record certification and testing program provides verification that the certified EHR technology supports meaningful use, as well as helps health care organizations protect sensitive and private patient information.

The Shareable Ink Platform's certification number is 110049R00. The software meets the following certification criteria:

The resulting structured and clinically-encoded output populates the EHR with discrete data, as if typed in directly. Built-in analytics give hospitals and practices insight into their operations -- from a clinical, quality and efficiency standpoint -- all previously inaccessible from traditional paper records.
