(firmenpresse) - WEST PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/13/11 -- International mining company Southern Hemisphere Mining Limited ("Southern Hemisphere" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: SH)(ASX: SUH) is pleased to report further highly encouraging results from resource drilling at its recently acquired Llahuin Copper Project ("Llahuin"), located 250km north of Santiago, Chile.
The first diamond drill hole (DDH) at Llahuin has returned an outstanding intersection of 496m (at) 0.40% Cu from surface including 126m (at) 0.60% Cu from 210m (Hole DDH-LLA-001), confirming that the mineralization extends to significant depths and remains open. DDH-LLA-001 was a deepening of hole RC-LLA-010.
In addition, ongoing reverse circulation (RC) drilling is continuing to return highly encouraging results, with two scout drill holes located 1km south-west of the Llahuin porphyry intersecting economic mineralization.
This demonstrates the significant strike potential of the porphyry system.
Highlights of the latest results from diamond and RC drilling are included below:
The program of deeper diamond drilling will be accelerated with a second diamond drill rig that has been contracted and is expected to arrive on site in October. The results from the geophysics surveys will guide the planning of this program.
Mineralization remains open both at depth and along strike.
Holes RC-LLA-022 and RC-LLA-023 were scout holes drilled approximately 1km to the south-west of the central porphyry. Both these holes yielded highly anomalous copper grades with elevated gold grades, indicating the potential extent of strike length.
Highlights from the scout holes are set out below:
The gold grades reported below were for a gold zone located 1km to the north of the central porphyry area. Further work will be conducted in this zone after receiving the results of the geophysics surveys.
Commenting on the results, Southern Hemisphere's Managing Director, Trevor Tennant, said the ongoing drilling was delivering excellent results, adding significant value to the emerging porphyry copper project at Llahuin.

Analysis results for RC-LLA-001 to RC-LLA-012 were reported in the August 19, 2011 ASX and TSX-V news release.
In addition, detailed drill results have been received for drill holes RC-LLA-013 to RC-LLA-025 and are included as an attachment.
Drilling Progress
To date, the Company has completed 5,896m in 29 RC drill holes and a 397.5m deepening of hole RC-LLA-010 with a diamond drill rig to test the Llahuin Porphyry at depth. RC drill holes at RC-LLA-008 and RC-LLA-009 were completed to test a prospective gold area 1km to the north. RC-LLA-022 and RC-LLA-023 were completed to test indications of the extension of mineralization 1km to the south west. A schedule of the program is shown below:

Location
The Llahuin Project is located close to Illapel, 250km north of Santiago, Chile.
The Llahuin porphyry is one of a cluster of four potential targets, within the Amapola exploitation licenses, which cover an area of 772 hectares, that have been defined by surface reconnaissance and mapping. The Llahuin porphyry is the main target.

Sampling and Analysis Procedures
From the RC drill holes up to and including hole RC-LLA-014, 5kg samples were taken from each metre interval (with the exception on hole RC-LLA-009 where samples were taken for each alternate metre interval). From hole RC-LLA-015 inclusive, 5kg samples were taken from each two metre interval, The samples are derived from riffle splitting each intercept. The samples were sent to Andes Analytical Assay Ltda (Chile) in Santiago for sample preparation and analysis. Duplicate samples were taken on a 1 in 20 basis.
Analysis was undertaken using atomic absorption spectrometry methods. Andes Analytical Assay Ltda (Chile) is an independent full service commercial laboratory accredited under ISO 9001:2008. Standard samples and repeat analyses were used by the laboratory to provide checks on the assay results.
Competent Person / Qualified Person Statement
Trevor Tennant (Managing Director - Southern Hemisphere), a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, is a 'Competent Person' as defined in the 2004 Edition of the 'Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves' and is a 'Qualified Person' under National Instrument 43-101 - 'Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects'.
Mr. Tennant was responsible for the design and conduct of this exploration drilling campaign, supervised the preparation of the technical information in this release and has the relevant experience and competence of the subject matter.
