Alpine Data Labs Co-Founder and CEO Outlines Predictive Analytics Roadmap at Sierra Ventures 6th Annual CIO Summit
CEO Anderson Wong Presents Alpine Data's Strategy to Address the Basic Hurdles to Enterprise-Scale Analytics

(firmenpresse) - SAN MATEO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/13/11 -- Alpine Data Labs, developer of the first solution for Big Data predictive insight, outlined its plan to address the basic hurdles to enterprise-scale analytics at the Sierra Ventures 6th Annual CIO Summit, where Co-founder and CEO Anderson Wong presented a visionary roadmap for predictive analytics to a who's who of tech titans.
Wong addressed the elephant in the predictive analytics room head on: Why do companies with Big Data databases still find it so hard to do analytics and where is the return on investment (ROI)? Wong said Alpine Data's strategy to address this challenge and to make Big Data available to every company, executive and data scientist will turn on the current and next two releases of its flagship product, the Alpine Miner in-database analytics tool, set to launch over the next two years. As with the current version of the tool, the upcoming versions will leverage Alpine Data's "in-database" advantage versus the "in-memory" approach of traditional data mining tools. Customers already benefitting from the predictive analytics capabilities of Alpine Miner include major corporations in financial services, retailers and media, among others.
The invitation-only summit, which took place Oct. 11 - 12 in Palo Alto, Calif., is specifically designed for Sierra Ventures' member advisory board made up of CIOs from Fortune 500 companies across all major industries and throughout the US. The summit affords the CIOs the unique opportunity to hear about emerging technologies from the founding teams of early-stage companies. This year's summit covered four main technology areas: Big Data and Analytics, The Social Chain, Mobility, and Cloud and the New Data Center.
Aside from Wong, speakers included Oracle President Mark Hurd, Chairman and CEO of Motorola Mobility Sanjay Jha, Informatica Chairman and CEO Sohaib Abbasi, Facebook CIO Tim Campos, and Brad Rencher, senior vice president and general manager of the Omniture Business Unit at Adobe Systems.
Alpine Data recently raised $7.5 million in venture funding, including $3 million from Sierra Ventures, which has funded more than 200 successful companies and has over $1.5 billion invested.
Alpine Data Labs has developed the first solution for Big Data predictive insight, making it faster, easier and less complex to achieve predictive insights from the massive datasets companies can now collect and store due to declining storage costs. Incubated within Greenplum (acquired by EMC in 2010) and founded by an experienced team with strong ties to China, Alpine Data Labs has Big Data in its DNA. The company is based in Silicon Valley and is backed by Sierra Ventures, Mission Ventures, Sumitomo Corporation and Stanford University.
