Colorado Springs Chiropractor Works to Support Charity: Water's Global Preventative Health Mission
(firmenpresse) - COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/18/11 -- Dr. Molly Kallenbach has started a campaign at her Thrive Chiropractic clinic to raise money for Charity: Water, a global non-profit that digs wells to provide clean drinking water to people in third-world countries. Dirty water in these countries accounts for 80% of the disease according to Charity: Water. To support Charity: Water, Dr. Kallenbach and her clinic organizes "Patient Appreciation Days" during which they offer their existing patients and host a free catered lunch of specialty salads. On these days, Thrive Chiropractic gifts all revenue generated from new patient appointments to Charity: Water, and patients have the opportunity to make a donation to Charity: Water. Thrive Chiropractic also matches all patient donations. In September, an anonymous donor matched all donations from Thrive Chiropractic, which means that when a patient donated to Charity: Water in September, it was multiplied by 400%.
Dr. Kallenbach, who focuses heavily on the and its role in preventative care with her own patients, explains why she and her staff support Charity: Water's goals: "Treating and neck pain are important aspects of our care, but what we really love is helping people prevent pain and illness in the first place. When we first heard about Scott Harrison and his Charity: Water project, we were blown away. Their goal to change the lives of 1 billion people by digging wells to supply clean water to people who don't have it is classic preventative medicine. And it is so simple! Plus, 100% of all donations go directly to building wells. I am inspired."
According to research done by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Institute of Medicine, 75 percent of all U.S. health care costs go to toward treating preventable diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. At the same time, the U.S. spends only 1% of its $1.9 trillion healthcare budget on preventative programs. However, Charity: Water spends 100% of its budget on the preventative program of digging new wells that supply clean drinking water to people who have been getting sick and dying from drinking dirty water.
Dr. Kallenbach's website cites the statistic that 4,500 children die every day from preventable diseases related to contaminated drinking water and poor . "We love Charity: Water," she says, "because if 80% of the illness and disease in these impoverished countries comes from their dirty drinking water, then Charity: Water may be the greatest international preventative health care effort in the world, ever. Our staff and our patients are also very enthusiastic about the cause, and we urge everyone out there who is interested to join us in supporting clean water for people who need it!"
People who are interested in supporting Dr. Kallenbach's campaign to support Charity: Water can go to the Thrive clinic's own campaign page on Charity: Water's website -- -- where their goal is to fund a new well-drilling rig.
