Excavators, Dozer, Loaders, Trucks Other Equipment Selling in Online-Only Auction in Kansas
(firmenpresse) - MANHATTAN, KS -- (Marketwire) -- 10/26/11 -- The prolonged construction slump has resulted in lenders owning substantial numbers of dozers, excavators, loaders and other types of heavy construction equipment. At the same time, construction and excavation companies are having trouble buying the new equipment they need, because manufacturers have curtailed their production.
So Manhattan-based is stepping into the gap, selling late-model used equipment in online-only auctions. More than 200 pieces of equipment -- including excavators, loaders, a dozer, heavy trucks and boring equipment -- are being sold in a major no-reserve online auction that ends at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.
"A machine that's sitting on a lot somewhere isn't doing anybody any good. It's better all around to put this equipment in the hands of businesses that can make good and profitable use of it," said Jerrod Westfahl, CEO of Purple Wave.
One such item is a 2002 Caterpillar D6R-XL dozer. Also selling are five Komatsu excavators and four Caterpillar excavators -- five of which are 2005 models or newer.
"In the past, heavy equipment has been sold more in live auctions, but in more than a decade of conducting Internet auctions, we've demonstrated that our online model has advantages for sellers and buyers alike. The seller can save tens of thousands of dollars by not having to relocate the machinery, because bidders can see it right where it is, or even in a variety of locations," said Westfahl.
In the case of the construction machinery being sold between now and Nov. 17, all the items are located at 20710 S. Foster Court, Bucyrus, Kan. It will be available for inspections on Oct. 28 and 29, as well as November 4, 5, 11 and 12. Prospective buyers may also inspect it by appointment.
"It's unfortunate that the lenders ended up with this equipment, but this story will have a happy ending as the banks get it sold and the buyers get equipment to run and expand their operations," said Westfahl.
