(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Press release 9 November 2009Ruukki is to deliver steel structures for three road bridges and arailway bridge for the E6 road project in Sweden. The bridges will bebuilt on the section of road between Skee and Ejgst near Strömstad.This is one of the last phases of one of the most important roadprojects in Sweden on the route leading from Trelleborg, at thesouthern tip of the country, to Norway. Ruukki's customer and themain contractor in the project is Peab AB.The bridges will total almost 600 metres in length and the order isworth around EUR 2.5 million."The steel bridge solution will shorten construction time andminimise disruption to traffic on the busy E6 road. We chose Ruukkias the steel structure contractor because we wanted a reliablepartner that manages the entire process from raw materials andfabrication to installation," says Contracts Manager Göran Hannrupfrom Peab Ab.Ruukki is responsible for the fabrication and installation ofload-bearing steel structures for the bridges. The structures will bemade at Ruukki's plant in Ylivieska, Finland and be transported byroad to the construction site in southern Sweden. A high degree ofstructural prefabrication and short installation time will minimisedisruption to traffic on this busy road and improve overall safety atthe construction site.Fabrication of the bridges will begin in late 2009 and the lastinstallations are scheduled for spring 2011.Ruukki has earlier been involved in a number of other E6 bridgeprojects.
