Donation From Chyron Transforms Newsroom Education for Students at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication

(firmenpresse) - MELVILLE, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 10/27/11 -- Chyron (NASDAQ: CHYR) today announced that in close collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), the Cronkite News Service newsroom -- part of the world-renowned Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication -- will be renamed the Chyron Media Center. Within the state-of-the-art news studios, Chyron's cloud-based Axis World Graphics and CAMIO graphics management systems will give students at ASU access to the industry's most advanced tools for news graphics creation and delivery. The dedication ceremony for the new Chyron Media Center at ASU is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011.

"Chyron's investment will help ensure that future journalists and media leaders learn with the very best, state-of-the-art equipment and graphics software available to the industry, building a pipeline of professionals who know the power and value of Chyron technology," said Christopher Callahan, dean of the Cronkite School. "We are absolutely delighted about our partnership with Chyron."

The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication is a nationally recognized professional school that prepares students for careers as reporters, editors, producers, correspondents, anchors, media managers, and public relations specialists. The school consistently ranks in the top 10 in the annual Hearst intercollegiate journalism competition, often called the Pulitzers of college journalism.

"Our students' ability to get experience on such cutting-edge technology helps give them a strong leg up in today's competitive job environment," said Mark Lodato, assistant dean and news director of the Cronkite School. "This is exactly the sort of workflow you'll find in newsrooms today, which means our students will be well-prepared to enter the workforce."

Axis World Graphics simplifies, streamlines, and facilitates the graphics creation process, enabling artists, reporters, production assistants, and news producers to create broadcast-quality graphics using their own graphics packages.

Chyron's CAMIO is a complete news graphics management solution that gives users control over the look and delivery of newsroom graphics. Graphic artists can build assets and upload them once for immediate access by output devices and newsroom clients.

"The Cronkite School is a leader in developing high-caliber media and communications specialists, and we are pleased that the new Chyron Media Center will support the school as it continues this fine tradition of excellence," said Michael Wellesley-Wesley, president and CEO at Chyron.

As the pioneer of graphics as a service for all digital video media, Chyron (NASDAQ: CHYR) continues to define the world of digital and broadcast graphics with Web, mobile, HD, 3D, and newsroom integration solutions.
