Awesome Investments secures approx.1, 680 acres of land in Morocco
Due to radiation intensity and existing available space North African
countries are predestinated for the employment of solarthermal power
plants. Locations with an annual direct radiation of over 2.400 KW/H per
square meter are not rare to find.
Awesome Investments Inc. started several years ago acquiring such estates
through leases from resident landowners. Geographically well situated
estates that offer perfect conditions for wind and solar power plants are
from major interest
Activities launched by Dii GmbH linked to the Desertec Project in 2009 put
the region on the screen for worldwide investors and in the center of the
public interest. The Clean Technology Fund issued by the World Bank and the
African Development Bank with a total volume of 750 million US dollar
('Concessional Loans') subsidizes the implementation of solarthermal power
plants and induces the region to public tendering of such.
In November 2009 the Moroccan government announced the building of 2,000 MW
of solar power plants until 2020 (plan Solaire Marocain). In a first step
Moroccan solar energy agency MASEN began the advertisement of 125 MW at the
location of Ouarzazate in 2010. Altogether 500 MW are to be built at this
location until 2015 through several advertisements.
Awesome Investments Inc. maintains lucrative relations with the so-called
MENA States (Middle East and North Africa) for several years and began
securing land in the year 2004, particularly in northeastern Morocco and in
northwestern Algeria. Long before the beginning of the so-called solar boom
Awesome Investments compelled a feasibility study in the Maghreb based upon
which it secured approx.1,680 acres of land in the eastern Moroccan area
around Oujda and Ouarzazate. This land is supposed to be explored in a
combined costing, whereby approx. 6.5% are held by the company itself for
the use of own solar plants and the remaining surfaces are to be leased to
the large operating companies. Beside the actual solar parks
infrastructural aspects such as roads, entrances for air traffic etc. play
a crucial role within the assignment of the territories.
The so-called Arab Spring contributes crucially to the positive development
of the North African states and Awesome Investments Inc. will have a
strategical position in the promising solar market of this region through
its beforehand planned engagement. Awesome Investments expects an increase
in sales of approx. 140% within the next three years.
