Press Release 2/11/2011 10:50
Channel Four news desk relocates to Sanoma House
The news desk of Channel Four Finland (Nelonen) will be merged with the news
desk of Helsingin Sanomat, Finland's leading newspaper. In the future, news
broadcasts will be produced by Helsingin Sanomat. As a result, the Channel Four
Finland news desk will move to the same location as Helsingin Sanomat, Sanoma
House. The move will take place in the latter half of 2012, but cooperation
between the news teams will commence as soon as possible.
"This is a great development for both parties. Together we will be able to
create an even stronger news service for TV, web, new reading devices, radio and
the printed paper. This cooperation will create a whole new kind of news service
that will merge the strengths of Helsingin Sanomat and Channel Four Finland
News," says Mikael Pentikäinen, the Publisher and Senior Editor-in-Chief of
Helsingin Sanomat.
"The cooperation with Helsingin Sanomat is a major step forward for Channel Four
Finland News. We will be able to offer Helsingin Sanomat the advantage of our
journalistic and technical expertise", says Eero Hyvönen, Editor-in-Chief of the
Channel Four Finland News.
Hans Edin, the President of Nelonen Media, is glad with the new distribution
channels that open up to Channel Four Finland News. "TV news is an important
daily source of information for our viewers. This co-operation builds stronger
news operations for all media platforms involved."
The Channel Four Finland News' editors will transfer to Helsingin Sanomat with
their existing terms of employment. The exact date of the transfer will be
specified later.
Mikael Pentikäinen, Senior Editor-in-Chief of Helsingin Sanomat will lead the
merged news operations. After the merge, he will also take over as the Senior
Editor-in-Chief of Channel Four Finland News. Eero Hyvönen will continue in the
Helsingin Sanomat newspaper operations as Editor-in-Chief responsible for
Channel Four Finland News.
