Jockey to Donate 1% of Catalog and Online Sales, Plus 100% of Sales of Signature Jockey Being Family(R) Bear in November
(firmenpresse) - KENOSHA, WI -- (Marketwire) -- 11/02/11 -- This November, . and ®, the brand's corporate citizenship initiative aimed at strengthening adoptive families, are celebrating National Adoption Month through a month-long fundraising initiative.
Throughout November, Jockey is donating one percent of all and online sales, as well as 100 percent of sales from its signature to the Debra Steigerwaldt Waller Foundation for Adoption, which funds critical services for children and families after an adoption has been finalized. The Jockey Being Family Bear is a cuddly, stuffed teddy bear that Jockey sells to raise funds for its nonprofit partners to conduct vital post-adoption trainings, conferences and workshops for adopted children and their parents.
Debra Steigerwaldt Waller is Jockey's Chairman of the Board and CEO. Adopted herself, Waller became a champion for the issue of adoption and ultimately founded Jockey Being Family in 2005. Since its inception, Jockey Being Family has donated more than $2.5 million to support the issue.
"Adoption is an incredibly rewarding and life-changing experience for children and parents alike. Yet, we know that nearly 15 percent of adoptions are at risk of failure without access to essential post-adoption resources," said Debra Waller, Chairman and CEO of Jockey International, Inc. "Our goal through Jockey Being Family is to fund critically important services that will help ensure strong, successful futures for all adoptive families."
In addition to the month-long fundraising initiative, Jockey is marking National Adoption Day on November 19 with a special token of thanks for families who are finalizing their adoptions that day. In partnership with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®, Jockey will provide 1,000 newly adoptive families across the country with a specially-designed Jockey Being Family backpacks filled with a Jockey Being Family Bear, adoption educational materials and a congratulations letter from Waller. For many of these newly adopted children, this backpack may be the first thing they can call their own.
Jockey Being Family supports post-adoption services through a wide range of initiatives including employee volunteerism and financial support to signature nonprofit partners, such as the North American Council on Adoptable Children, the Adoption Resources of Wisconsin, the Center for Adoption Support and Education and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
