NDP Leadership Candidate Paul Dewar Announces Plan to Create More Jobs
(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/03/11 -- Today NDP leadership candidate Paul Dewar announced his Jobs Strategy in Vancouver, British Columbia. Dewar's practical plan to create good jobs includes 7 steps to tackle Canada's jobs deficit.
"Today there are more than 1.3 million unemployed Canadians - that's 228,000 more than there were in 2006 when Stephen Harper first took office," said Dewar. "With smart, practical solutions, we can grow our economy and create good jobs, but Mr. Harper's government is out of touch with Canadian families".
Dewar's jobs strategy includes specific proposals to strengthen communities through a permanent national infrastructure program; targeted incentives to help small and medium sized business grow; steps to promote renewable energy jobs that will help families save money and create jobs; a commitment to stand up for public services and the people who provide them; and a plan to build new partnerships with provinces and the private sector to improve Canada's training and apprenticeship programs.
Dewar's jobs strategy also includes tax proposals to protect Canadian families by saying no to expanding the HST or increasing sales taxes and to recover billions in lost revenue by eliminating offshore tax havens.
"There is a fundamental difference between the way Mr. Harper and I view the economy. Mr. Harper spends public funds on corporate tax cuts and vanity projects. I believe in investments that fulfill a vision of jobs with a decent wage, a healthcare system you can rely on, pensions and retirement security, environmental health," said Dewar.
