Final contract awarded to OCL, the development consortium Vestia and Proper-Stok - part of Heijmans - for the plan around the HagaZiekenhuis in The Hague

OCL, the development consortium comprising Vestia and Proper-Stok, part of
Heijmans, has been granted the final contract to develop the area around the
HagaZiekenhuis (Haga Hospital) on the Leyweg and Escamplaan in The Hague,
following approval of the urban development plan and the municipal budget by The
Hague's Municipal Council on Thursday evening 3 November. For the elaboration of
the plans, the municipality is collaborating with the HagaZiekenhuis and the
OntwikkelingsCombinatie Leyenburg (OCL), a development consortium comprising the
Vestia Housing Corporation and Proper-Stok.
For OCL, the plan involves creating a health plaza, developing around 740 homes
and creating various parking facilities providing some 2,100 places. The plan
represents an area in excess of 86,000 m². The housing programme comprises
owner-occupied homes and rental homes, 30% of which will be subsidized rental
homes. The plan also includes a health plaza providing care-related facilities
including a dentist's surgery, a physiotherapy clinic, a day-care centre and
healthcare-oriented shops. The development represents a contract value for OCL
of approximately ? 177 million, with a minimum of 25% for Proper-Stok. The site
is divided into four planning areas, which can be developed independently of
each other. Construction is expected to start in 2012. The area's entire
development is planned for completion in 2020.
