He joins David Axmark, co-founder of MySQL AB, as an advisor to SkySQL.
Douglas' appointment corresponds with SkySQL's increased investment in product development, with a focus on big data and the cloud. As an advisor to the company, Douglas brings to SkySQL not only his knowledge of and experience with big data and the cloud, but also access to key industry partners and resources, as well as potential corporate customers.

Douglas joins SkySQL having worked nearly his entire career in big data. Most recently vice president of Applied Minds, LLC, and chief executive officer of TouchTable, Douglas was previously senior vice president of cloud computing and chief sustainability officer at Sun Microsystems. At Sun, Douglas oversaw the company's cloud strategy and was a leader in the company's acquisition of MySQL AB, spearheading its integration after the close.
