Vaisala hosts a Capital Markets Day today in the company headquarters in Vantaa,
Finland. In the event, Vaisala's management presents the company strategy, as
well as business and technology developments.
Kjell Forsén, Vaisala's President and CEO: "Vaisala has undergone significant
changes during the recent years to ensure future success. The dynamics of our
business are shifting towards the private sector. A concrete indicator of this
is that the Controlled Environment business area, which serves industrial
customers, is our fastest growing business today. In addition to efficiencies,
the newly combined Weather business is seeking new customer value and
differentiation through decision support systems and services."
Vaisala is fully committed to its current strategy.
The current market outlook and financial guidance, as communicated in January-
September results announcement, are unchanged: Current increased uncertainty in
the global economy and shifts in exchange rates are expected to affect all
Vaisala's business areas. However, based on Vaisala's technology and the
structure of Vaisala's customer base, the company's competitive position is
expected to remain mostly unchanged in 2011.
Vaisala expects its net sales in 2011 to grow moderately from the preceding
year's proforma net sales. The operating profit is expected to improve
moderately. Proforma net sales in 2010 were EUR 254.6 million and the operating
result was EUR 11.8 million. Vaisala's long-term business outlook remains
unchanged.
