market

- Substantial improvement in earnings after 9 months
- Pre-engineering commission from North America
- Engineering commission for BioDiesel plants from Europe
- Interest in subsidiary Enbasys increased to 100%
(Grambach, 10. November 2011) The Austrian company BDI - BioEnergy
International AG improved earnings substantially in the first nine months
of the 2011 fiscal year in spite of a moderate decrease in sales. The new
BioGas operations have been established on the market successfully
alongside BioDiesel plants. The interest in the subsidiary Enbasys has been
increased to 100%. This means that the Multi-Feedstock Technology used in
the BioGas plants has developed into a major feature of BDI's operations.
'With our Multi-Feedstock Technology, we combine extremely high flexibility
in the processing of very different by-products and waste materials with
very economic operation. We have succeeded in obtaining several new
commissions for BioGas and BioDiesel plants thanks to the technological
lead we hold. Developments on our international markets are very positive
too', says Edgar Ahn, CSO of BDI - BioEnergy International AG. In the third
quarter, BDI obtained the pre-engineering commission for a BioGas plant in
North America as well as an engineering commission for the planned
construction of a BioDiesel plant in Western Europe. Specific negotiations
are currently being held about further commissions for RetroFit services in
Southern Europe, North America and Eastern Europe.
Total sales in the first nine months of the 2011 fiscal year amounted to
EUR 27.5 million; they were therefore about 5% lower than in the previous
year (EUR 29.5 million) because of delays in project placement. The
operating result (EBIT) increased from EUR 2.7 million in the previous year
to EUR 3.2 million thanks to cost-cutting and optimisation measures. The
EBIT margin was considerably higher than in the previous year (9.3%) at
11.6%. This means that the profit margin is back in the target corridor of
10% to 15%. Earnings before taxes (EBT) totalled EUR 3.3 million, which
represents an increase of 6.8% over the same period the previous year (EUR
3.1 million). Earnings per share remained almost the same as in the
previous year at EUR 0.68.
'With our existing project pipeline and orders on hand of EUR 15.2 million
on 30. September 2011, the basis has been created for utilisation of our
capacities and for the generation of positive annual earnings in 2011. We
expect to reach the sales level of the years 2006/2007 again in the medium
term and still aim to achieve an annual EBIT margin of 10 to 15%', explains
Edgar Ahn.
