Outokumpu to supply stainless steel to the Stockholm Waterfront
project
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - PRESS RELEASENovember 19, 2009 at 13.00 EETThe Stockholm Waterfront project's most visible part, the CongressCentre, will incorporate a spectacular stainless steel façade. Thestainless material will be provided by Outokumpu. The building willmeet high environmental standards with regards to energy efficiencyand sustainability.The Congress Centre façade will be a double structure, in which thebuilding is encased in a screen built from Z-shaped stainlessprofiles. The material will be Outokumpu's duplex stainless steelwith a half-matte surface to provide the desired level ofreflectivity. Outokumpu has also provided stainlessfingerprint-resistant steel for inside door and window frames.The Stockholm Waterfront project emphasizes energy-efficiency andsustainable materials. Stainless steel was chosen by the architects,White Arkitekter, as a response to this. Outokumpu's duplex steelprovides a highly durable and corrosion resistant stainlessstructure, which will be largely maintenance-free and fullyrecyclable.Stefano Mangili of White Arkitekter comments on Outokumpu's role:"As architects we have visions of what to achieve, but we needprofessionals to help us optimize and realize our visions. A lot ofwork was put into finding the exact material for this complexstructure.
