Middle East Presence Reflects IAE Regional Strength
Gulf Air a SelectTwo(TM) Launch Customer
(firmenpresse) - GLASTONBURY, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 11/12/11 -- The Middle East has been a highly active region for International Aero Engines, as no fewer than 20 airlines are employing V2500 power within their fleets of A320 aircraft.

Yemenia recently accepted delivery of its first V2500 equipped aircraft from the Airbus facility in Toulouse -- the first of 10 A320s to be delivered through 2014.
A Turkish Airlines A321 entered service this summer, bringing that V2500 customer to 100 airplanes.
Qatar Airways has the largest V2500 fleet in service or on order -- 26 aircraft -- and has accumulated more than 800,000 engine flight hours.
Middle East Airways has received six A320s and will accept another option to be delivered in January of next year, marking the 5000th A320 series delivery from Airbus.
EGYPTAIR - the region's oldest IAE customer, celebrates its 20th anniversary and has built a fleet of 17 A320 aircraft.
Etihad anticipates accepting the first of its most recent order of A320 aircraft at the Dubai Air Show, bringing its V2500 powered platforms to 14.
"Our engine offerings enable our users to maintain their focus on serving customers," explains IAE Executive Vice President Jim Guliano. "Their feedback is very positive, and they appreciate the ability to transparently upgrade their capabilities with updates to their existing powerplants."
Gulf Air recently entered into an agreement to obtain V2500s for six A321s, becoming a launch customer for IAE's SelectTwo™ engine. This recently introduced configuration improves efficiency and is compliant with the most stringent CAEP/6 NOx standards. In comparison with its predecessor SelectOne™, SelectTwo provides an average fuel savings of 0.6% for a 500 nautical mile flight on an A320.
In addition, US Airways -- a long-time IAE customer -- earlier this year announced it would upgrade its entire A320 fleet of more than 150 aircraft to the SelectTwo offering.
IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders are comprised of Pratt & Whitney (NYSE: UTX), Rolls-Royce (LSE: RR), Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines. There are more than 4,800 V2500s have been delivered so far, with nearly 2,000 more engines on order and close to 200 customers around the world.
