ASSET’s ScanWorks® Supports On-Chip Evaluation of Avago Technologies’ ASICs

ID: 894

Customers of major ASIC supplier have access to ScanWorks platform to simplify design

(firmenpresse) - Richardson, Munich, August 19, 2008 – ASSET® InterTech (www.asset-intertech.com) today announced that it has reached an agreement under which ScanWorks, the company’s platform for open embedded instrumentation tools, will support Avago Technologies’ embedded instrumentation technology for select applications-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). ASSET is the leading supplier of open tools for embedded instrumentation.

Avago’s Intel® Quick Path Interconnect (QPI) SerDes (serializer/deserializer) core is compliant with Intel’s Interconnect Built In Self Test (IBIST) and is suitable for ASICs in high-performance server applications. ASSET’s ScanWorks is the only commercial tool platform that will automate, access and analyze data generated by Intel IBIST technology.

Initially, ScanWorks will support Avago ASICs featuring SerDes that are compatible with Intel QPI. With this recent arrangement, customers will be able to rapidly access both the Intel chipset and the Avago SerDes with a single tool, ScanWorks.

“We believe that Avago’s customers will benefit from the ability to use ScanWorks when developing their products,” said Tim Caffee, vice president, I/O instrumentation, for ASSET. “We also expect that other semiconductor companies will deploy Intel IBIST,
and we will be well positioned to support them as well.”

Pricing and Availability
ScanWorks support for Avago ASICs that feature Intel QPI SerDes will be available as an add-on module to ScanWorks during the fourth quarter of 2008 at a price of $8,250.00.

ScanWorks – The Embedded Instrumentation Platform
ASSET, through its ScanWorks platform, is applying the experience it has gained from two decades as a leading supplier of boundary-scan test tools utilizing JTAG access to the development of open embedded instrumentation tools. The boundary-scan infrastructure that is embedded into chips and circuit boards is one of several technologies that can form the basis for an embedded instrumentation toolset. In recent years, ASSET has significantly enhanced its ScanWorks® platform with embedded instrumentation capabilities such as CPU-emulation functional test, signal integrity analysis utilizing embedded Intel IBIST (Interconnect Built In Self Test) technology and others.

With its advanced automation, data acquisition and data analysis features, ScanWorks will continue as a leading platform for structural boundary-scan test. It has become the boundary-scan system of choice for practically all major communication and defense/avionics suppliers, including Cisco, Ericsson, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, Tellabs, Huawei, Raytheon, Rockwell, Lockheed Martin, BAE, ITT, Northrop Grumman, GE Aviation and others. In addition, ScanWorks’ adoption by companies like Microsoft for its Xbox 360 video game console and Delphi for its automotive electronics demonstrates that ScanWorks will continue its leadership as boundary scan proliferates in computers, set-top boxes, consumer electronics, industrial controls, automotive and other industries.
