TDF Extends Nantes Teleport
(firmenpresse) - Friedrichshafen, August 28, 2008 – ND SatCom, an SES ASTRA company, will deliver a turnkey redundant 5+1 uplink station for TDF’s teleport in Nantes, France. TDF is the leading European TV and radio transmission group. The uplink station consists of two 8.1m uplinks with five regular and one redundant channel. In addition, one 4.8m uplink will be installed for backup applications.
The uplink station, which has a planned start of operations at the end of 2008, is an extension to the company’s existing teleport uplink infrastructure in Nantes. TDF’s teleport in Nantes is uncrewed and operated via remote control at its playout center in Paris. The teleport at the Atlantic Coast has an unusual geographic location – since most French teleports are around Paris – that permits to offer, in addition to primary uplinks, backup uplinks. The installation supports TDF’s position as a leading broadcast network operator and strengthens the company’s backup business in case there are transmission breakdowns at other urban teleports due to bad weather.
