University of Calgary: Ring the bell...trading begins at Calgary's first student finance lab
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/28/11 -- The new N. Murray Edwards Trading and Finance Lab at the Haskayne School of Business is Calgary's first student trading floor/finance learning environment - a space where students will learn how to use trading information systems to evaluate trades in stocks, bonds, and commodities. Not only will it will be used in the School's investment, risk management, and capital budgeting courses, but it will also be a core resource for the Calgary Portfolio Management Trust (CPMT) initiative, which provides a training ground for some of Canada's top finance students.
The title sponsor of the new lab is N. Murray Edwards, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Canadian Natural Resources Limited, and owner and president of Edco Financial Holdings Ltd. He is joined by six other sponsors who have named stations within the lab.
The facility sits in the newly named BMO Financial Group Forum space on the third floor of Scurfield Hall. We will be announcing a major gift to the Haskayne School by BMO Financial Group at this event.
Special guests N. Murray Edwards and BMO Financial Group will help the Haskayne School of Business mark the naming of the BMO Financial Group Forum and the opening of the new trading and finance lab. Haskayne students will provide software demonstrations in the new lab.
