Commercial Sets the Standard With BSI Initiative
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 12/01/11 -- has become the first business working with to achieve carbon neutrality in accordance with standard - a standard that enables companies to prove both radical and consistent carbon reduction.
The PAS 2060 standard was developed by BSI in co-operation with the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), The CarbonNeutral Company and organisations including M&S and the Co-operative Group. Launched in 2010, it provides a clear and credible framework for organisations to demonstrate their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and supporting renewable energy, forestry and other projects to mitigate climate change.
To achieve PAS 2060 standards required Commercial to reduce internal emissions through energy efficiency measures and mitigate any remaining emissions through projects that meet strict verification standards, providing essential finance to energy efficiency, methane capture and enable the transition to low carbon energy.
Commercial has been certified a CarbonNeutral® company since 2006 in accordance with the globally recognised CarbonNeutral Protocol and chose to further their certification to include PAS 2060 standards as part of its on-going commitment to sustainability. Having achieved carbon neutrality in accordance with PAS 2060 for its 2010 emissions, Commercial has committed to further energy efficiencies and offset projects for 2011 and the future. Recent figures show that the company has already cut its overall carbon emissions by 57% by reducing mileage, implementing energy efficient lighting, designing a low energy data centre, minimising business flights and increasing public transport use.
