Half-Term Holidaymakers Warned: Don't Be Caught Out by the Cold Snap
AA warns half-term holidaymakers to prepare their home for a probable cold snap

(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 12/02/11 -- Recent mild temperatures will see thousands of holidaymakers leaving their homes unprepared for a cold snap as temperatures are predicted to plummet to freezing or below next week(i).
With thousands of British families expected to jet off to sunnier climes or the ski slopes of Europe over the weekend, has voiced concerns that the recent mild temperatures could lull homeowners into a false sense of security. With spring flowers appearing and even blossom in some parts, many families will turn their central heating off for their break away without realising the threat of frozen pipes still exists.
This winter has already set new records following the coldest December in over 100 years(ii) and over the last two severe winters, snow and freezing temperatures have been seen as late as March. Now the AA is advising half-term holidaymakers to take a few simple precautions to prevent any unwelcome homecoming surprises:
Tom Stringer, Response, said: "Nobody wants to return from a half term break to a home emergency which could have been easily prevented. Our advice to all half-term holidaymakers is to make sure their house is prepared for all eventualities - they may be heading off to some summer sun but they mustn't forget it's still winter at home."
(i) Temperatures are predicted to fall to lows of -3 degrees Celsius in Central London next week .
