Transmode expands Passive WDM TG-Series to 52 channels
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Stockholm, Sweden - 8th December 2009 - Transmode, a leading providerof optical networking solutions, today announced the expansion ofTG-Series Passive WDM platform by an additional 40 DWDM channels.Transmode's TG-Series is a Passive WDM platform that addresses therequirement from Service Providers for low cost and scalablebandwidth in metro access networks. It is already used by a widerange of Tier 1 and 2 operators for applications such as localexchange/central office consolidation projects,Fiber-To-The-Curb/Building for MSAN and VDSL rollout and highsecurity networks.Through a broad range of terminal and add/drop multiplexer modules, the TG-Series supports point-to-point, mesh, bus- and ring-basednetwork topologies. The optical modules are available in differentform factors, including rack-mounted modules for central offices andstreet cabinets. There are also modules for splice enclosures thatare ideal for use in harsh environments like manholes. To address the requirement for additional capacity in accessnetworks, Transmode has now extended the number of available channelsfrom 16 CWDM channels to an additional 40 DWDM channels. Hybridconfigurations are also supported with both CWDM and DWDM channelsused to support applications requiring up to 52 channels eachcarrying up to 10Gbit/s. The system can now therefore offerperformance which is fully comparable to, and even better than,WDM-PON and G-PON in terms of number of channels and capacity. The TG-Series also leads the industry in Passive WDM systemperformance with a very broad range of installation and networkingoptions, excellent price/performance, best in class density andoptical specifications, and now industry leading capacity.TG-Series DWDM modules are available now and shipping to customerdeployments."Recent TG-Series break-through sales wins have proven that theTG-Series has what it takes to differentiate itself against solutionsfrom incumbent WDM suppliers," said Sten Nordell, Transmode's ChiefTechnology Officer. "By adding DWDM filters Transmode has taken alarge step in providing unparalleled capacity in Passive WDM networksand keeping the TG-Series at the forefront of access networkingoptions."About TransmodeTransmode is a leading provider of optical networking solutions fortransport of data, voice and video traffic, based on CWDM and DWDMtechnology (Coarse/Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing).Transmode's unique Intelligent WDM (iWDM(TM)) approach has lead towidespread deployment of over 10000 systems in a customer baseconsisting of more than 250 fixed and mobile network operators, service providers, large enterprises and public institutions acrossEurope, the Americas and Asia.Transmode's comprehensive product portfolio and strong globalorganization enable our customers to grow the capacity and to improveservice level of their regional, metro and metro access networks, ona cost-efficient basis without compromising on functionality. For additional information about Transmode, please visitwww.transmode.comFor more information please contact:Ola ElmelandVice President Marketing &CommunicationsTransmode Systems ABTelephone: +46 8 506 882 71Email: ola.elmeland(at)transmode.comThis announcement was originally distributed by Hugin.
