Akamai Vice President Troy Snyder Joins Abacast Board of Directors
Troy Snyder, Vice President of Ecosystem and Executive Producer for Akamai, Will Provide Strategic Oversight and Direction of New Digital Media Platforms for Abacast
(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/13/11 -- Abacast, a provider of and services to the media industry, has announced the addition of veteran technologist, Troy Snyder, to their board of directors.
Over the past decade Mr. Snyder has bought and sold numerous Internet companies and holds strategic board seats at companies in the areas of online and offline content production, asset management and destination consumer sites. He was a founder of one of the first Internet Service Providers, CONNECTNet, and a cofounder of ClickHear Productions, which completed over 350 Live Internet Broadcasts for some of the major media monoliths and industry leaders such as Microsoft, NASA, SAIC, and INTEL. The company remained profitable and experienced a 400% growth in revenue during the Internet boom and ultimately was acquired by CMGi/NaviSite. In 2002, Mr. Snyder was CEO of Nine Systems combining the assets of e-Media, Streaming Media Corporation, and NaviSite's Streaming Media Division to continue development of streamOS, the first video content management system for use across a commercially distributed Internet.
In late 2006, Akamai Technologies acquired Nine Systems in the largest transaction of the sector in recent years. Mr. Snyder is currently Vice President and Executive Producer at Akamai, where he oversees the media ecosystem at Akamai and assists companies in developing popular brands and destinations across the Internet based on Akamai solutions. Recently Mr. Snyder has worked as an Executive Transmedia Producer on events such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2010 Winter Olympics, Hope for Haiti, and the Michael Jackson Memorial Service.

Originally from Buffalo, NY, Mr. Snyder earned his BA in Economics at the State University of New York, studied International Business in London, England and New Venture Management in Clark University's MBA program. He has a wife, two children, and splits his time between Hawaii and Oregon.
