This is a "must attend" event for defense contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, military personnel and service providers of any size or stage, that want to do business with Arizona A&D companies.

The conference will launch with an evening networking and exposition (Expo) event at the Phoenix Convention Center on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. It will continue on Thursday, January 26 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with the Expo, a full day of networking, exceptional presentations and educations sessions. The cost to attend Wednesday only is $35 for Arizona Technology Council members, $55 for non-Arizona Technology Council members. A full conference pass that includes both days' events is $75 for Arizona Technology Council members and $100 for non-Arizona Technology Council members.

The importance of the aerospace and defense industry to Arizona's economy and to the state's overall fiscal health is outlined in the March, 2010 report issued by the Arizona Chamber Foundation titled "." According to the brief, A&D manufacturers account for more than 37,000 jobs in Arizona, which is 21 percent of all of Arizona's manufacturing jobs. These are high wage jobs with an $85K average annual salary; 41 percent above the average Arizona manufacturing salary and more than double the average Arizona wage across all industries.

"Economic developers from across the country are looking to attract and retain sustainable, high wage, export oriented industries," said , president and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. "Arizona's A&D industry is second to none with firms manufacturing products that meet the defense community's immediate needs and developing new technologies that will be used to confront future challenges."





In direct support of competitive smaller A&D businesses, the conference is featuring a session on (SBIR) and (STTR) guidelines. Through these two competitive programs, the ensures that the nation's small, high-tech, innovative businesses are a significant part of the federal government's research and development efforts. Eleven federal departments participate in the SBIR program; five departments participate in the STTR program awarding $2.5 billion to small high-tech businesses. Attendees of this session will learn more about the requirements of these programs and how to full advantage of the resources available to them.
