The PLX ExpressLane (four lanes, four ports) Gen2 switch offers very low power requirements (down to 0.6W typical) due to its high-efficiency power management feature designed to meet the difficult power constraints of battery- and bus-powered applications. In addition, PLX has integrated reference clocks into the device, which in turn sheds the requirement for multiple external clock and timing ICs, thereby reducing the number of vendors and overall bill-of-material (BOM) costs.
