CTEMS Identifies Lack of Consistent Business Group Accountability Is Hindering Legitimacy of Fixed and Mobile Telecom Management Industry

(firmenpresse) - INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- (Marketwire) -- 12/28/11 -- AOTMP today announced today that members of the have identified a lack of standard functional group accountability across telecom expense management (TEM) and wireless mobility management (WEM) activities. CTEMS, a collaborative group focused on advancing the fixed and mobile telecom management industry, regularly solicits feedback from its membership of multi-functional professionals from both enterprise and industry supplier organizations.
According to recent feedback from CTEMS members, invoice processing and auditing are two of the most widely adopted business process activities supporting TEM and WMM programs. Approximately 50 percent of CTEMS members identified that an established TEM group is most often accountable for invoice processing performance results. Other members (30 percent) identified Telecom Engineering and Finance groups as being accountable. TEM groups are accountable for auditing activities in 56 percent of enterprises, while 14 percent of enterprises identified Telecom Engineering as the group accountable for performance results.
While a defined TEM group is accountable for results across many TEM and WMM activities, it is not the only group that may hold accountability ownership for business process activities supporting TEM and WMM programs. Feedback showed that functional groups such as telecom help desk, telecom engineering, IT help desk, procurement, business operations, and legal, are often the groups accountable for certain activities.
"The lack of standard functional group accountability across TEM and WMM activities can often lead to business process fragmentation," said CTEMS Founder and AOTMP CEO Tim Lybrook. "CTEMS has identified that there is a clear lack of overall telecom environment performance visibility as a result of this fragmentation."
CTEMS membership currently consists of more than 250 members, including enterprise professionals responsible for managing more than $3.7 billion in annual telecom spend. Leadership from carriers, vendors, consultants and technology suppliers working in the TEM and WMM supplier industry are also represented. The diverse group of buyers and sellers collaborate regularly to identify and resolve challenges in the industry. To learn more about CTEMS, or to inquire about membership, visit .
