New TV License Agreement Concluded with TV-broadcaster HBO for the
Netherlands
(Cologne/New York - 14.02.2012) - Splendid Film GmbH, Cologne, a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Splendid Medien AG, Cologne, has concluded an
agreement with Home Box Office (HBO), New York, on the TV licensing of
feature films in the Netherlands.
The PayTV rights of more than 50 titles have been licensed for one year
each. Most of the titles are action films and thrillers, including some new
acquisitions from last year.
'Our strong market presence in the Benelux countries will be further
consolidated by the agreement with HBO,' says Andrew Ernster, General
Manager of Splendid Film GmbH in the Benelux countries.
HBO launched on February 9th in the Netherlands, offering three 24-hours,
commercial-free premium HD-channels: HBO, HBO(R)2 and HBO(R)3. Together
with HBO On Demand(R) and the network's online video destination, HBO
GO(R), subscribers will have access to many series - such as Game of
Thrones?and Boardwalk Empire?- on top of countless blockbuster movies,
miniseries and documentaries. Original HBO programs, like Luck?, will be
available as early as one day after their HBO U.S. debut - with Dutch
subtitles.
