Veidekke to build parking facility in rock cavern at Sotra
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Today Straume Parkering AS signed a contract with Veidekke Entreprenør AS to
build 1,500 spaces in the rock beneath the Sartor Senter. This is a turnkey
contract with a value of NOK 327 million excluding VAT.
The facility will consist of two parallel caverns with a length of approx. 250
metres and parking over four levels. This will be carried out in combination
with in situ and prefabricated concrete elements. In addition to access tunnels,
four large shafts will be built with stairs and lifts for vertical transport
with direct access to the shopping centre and a new future square.
"This is an important contract for Veidekke Entreprenør, and it is particularly
pleasing that a customer that we have worked for since 1978 shows us renewed
confidence," says district manager Lars Rune Folkedal.
Work starts at the end of March 2012, and is to be completed in November 2014.
