Today USG People is holding its analyst day at the head office in Almere.
Today's meeting will feature presentations by the USG People management. CEO Rob
Zandbergen and CFO Leen Geirnaerdt will open the proceedings with presentations
about the strategy and the associated financial objectives. These were
previously announced on 28 October along with the publication of the 2011 third-
quarter results.
Hubert Vanhoe, COO Professional Solutions & Specialist Staffing, will provide a
more detailed account of the international rollout of Legal Professionals, part
of USG Professionals, and will also provide details of the growth plans for the
USG Professionals division. Christine Van den Eynde, Vice President of Secretary
Plus, will present the Secretary Plus growth strategy, whilst the final
presentation, by Eric de Jong, COO General & Specialist Staffing, will take a
look at a future distribution model for the staffing divisions of USG People.
Confirmation of strategic objectives
In 2011 USG People redesigned its strategy in order to introduce more focus in
the organisation. This involved aligning the USG People focus, organisation and
brands with both the trends in the industry and the divergent needs of
candidates and clients in terms of the service provided by USG People. To
achieve this, separate business models are used which are specifically tailored
to the dynamic within the various markets. USG People distinguishes three
product-market combinations, each with its own focus area.
1. General Staffing
2. Specialist Staffing
3. Professionals
Over the years USG People has built up outstanding knowledge of the various
employment markets and holds distinct positions in the aforementioned divisions,
particularly in specialist services (Specialist Staffing) and in the highly
educated segment (Professionals).
USG People aspires to leading positions in selected markets such as a certain
region, a specific client target group (for example SME) or a selected
profession. The redesigned strategy is aimed at expanding the positions held by
the company, mainly in promising and highly profitable growth markets, with the
consistent target being maximum profitability and value creation. USG People
aims to achieve an average EBITA margin throughout the cycle of 6.0%.
Current trends
The trends that emerged in the last few months of 2011, as reported at the
publication of the fourth-quarter results, continued in the first two months of
2012, as is also confirmed by various market figures. The first quarter of 2011
presents a difficult comparison base as it featured a 14% rise in revenue.
Partly because of this revenue was down by 11% on the first two months of last
year. Revenue per working day in February was flat compared to January. Starting
from the second quarter of 2012 USG People expects to see a gradual recovery
thanks to improved market conditions and as the stepped-up commercial efforts
begin to produce results.
The gross margin was stable compared to last year. Operating costs were lower
than last year, with the decline being fully in line with the previously
announced cost savings for 2012. EBITA rose in the first two months of 2012
compared to last year.

2011 Annual Report
The USG People 2011 annual report will be available on the website of USG People
from 29 March 2012. The report including the financial statements can be found
online at www.usgpeople.com. The financial statements have yet to be adopted by
the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, which will take place on 10 May
2012.
