David Lloyd Leisure Launches a Summer of Sport
Go for Gold Challenge Among Themed Activities

(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 07/06/12 -- David Lloyd Leisure clubs across the country are giving fitness fans the chance to feel like an athlete with a 'Go for Gold' challenge, inspired by a sizzling summer of sport.
Starting on July 9 and running for six weeks, Europe's premier sports, health and leisure group is offering its members four challenge disciplines - running, swimming, rowing and cycling, with three fitness levels to choose from: Gold (advanced), Silver (intermediate) and Bronze (beginner).
Participants will be able to track their achievements by picking up a challenge card, including a certificate, at their local club to record their time and distance in each activity against international record-holder and pacing information, helping to steer them towards their personal best.
For those with Wimbledon fever, clubs will also host a mixed doubles tennis tournament, open to all players from beginners to advanced.
And for youngsters, celebrations will include sports activities and a colouring competition as well as a wide array of themed arts and crafts.
Rob Beale, David Lloyd Leisure's head of sports, for adults, said: "There has never been a bigger year of sport in this country and we want to help our members harness that inspiration to get fit. Our Go for Gold challenge and tennis tournament are great ways for them to join in with the spirit of massive international sporting competition while achieving their exercise goals."
Sarah Hobbs, the group's head of sports, health and fitness for children, added: "Youngsters love to emulate their sporting heroes and at David Lloyd Leisure we recognise the importance of engaging children at an early age to keep healthy and active by making sport and exercise fun, creative and sociable."
