PRESS RELEASE
KTG Agrar AG stands for sustainability and animal welfare
- Single-source supply for maximum quality assurance
- KTG Agrar attaches great importance to vocational training
Hamburg, 14 August 2012 - Ever since its inception, KTG Agrar AG (ISIN:
DE000A0DN1J4) has relied on sustainable farming. Besides growing organic
and conventional food crops, the company also rears cattle, attaching
maximum importance to product quality and food safety.
KTG Agrar grows its own organic resources on its eco farms and processes
them in its own eco-certified production facility in Ringleben, Thuringia,
making the company a truly integrated producer, who covers the value chain
from the field to the food store. This strategy ensures maximum quality
assurance and is virtually unparalleled in the market.
KTG Agrar keeps some 550 dairy cows as well as 2,600 free range cattle at
several locations. Most of these farms already operate to organic standards
or are under conversion. KTG Agrar guarantees consumers that its cattle are
kept in an animal-friendly way, as this is the very basis for the
production of high-quality products. The company uses a wide range of
different methods such as the best possible milking, feeding and watering
techniques, healthy ventilation and an animal-friendly layout of the
outside exercise area, taking into account regional and environmental
aspects. 'We are happy to pursue a modern and regional farming policy that
caters to people's desire for healthy food. Some of our farms are members
of the Biopark e.V. association, which aims to accommodate farming and
nature preservation, to connect financial and ecological requests as well
as to strengthen the rural regions both economically and socially. Ever
since the foundation of our company, we have followed a philosophy of
producing our products in an environmentally and animal-friendly way,' said
Siegfried Hofreiter, CEO of KTG Agrar.
According to an image study carried out by i.m.a. and TNS Emnid in
mid-2012, one in two Germans is convinced that agricultural topics are not
sufficiently addressed at school. KTG Agrar aims to change this situation
and plans to send company representatives to schools in Hamburg,
Brandenburg and Thuringia in order to give students an insight into modern
farming and provide them with hands-on materials. 'We attach great
importance to promoting an understanding of farming as well as to
vocational training. The latter is not least reflected in the fact that we
currently employ as many as 16 trainees and apprentices at several of our
farms. This is why we also want to show students how to think in
agricultural terms,' said Siegfried Hofreiter.
