TOMORROW FOCUS AG achieves further growth in revenue and earnings
in 2009 despite global financial crisis
Munich, 24 March 2010 - TOMORROW FOCUS AG, one of Germany's foremost
exchange-listed internet media groups, maintained its established track
record of growth in 2009, a year dominated by the global financial crisis.
According to the definitive figures, consolidated revenue reached its
highest-ever level in the company's ten-year history at EUR 92.2 million.
The operating result also showed an improvement, both at Group and segment
level, despite substantial charges against income totalling EUR 1 million
in connection with the restructuring of corporate divisions and the
purchase of AdJug Ltd.
Total consolidated revenue for the TOMORROW FOCUS Group in the financial
year 2009 was up 19.5 percent on the previous year from EUR 77.1 million to
EUR 92.2 million. The key factors here were significant increases in
revenue in the E-Commerce and Technologies segments and moderate revenue
growth in the Portal segment. Revenue in the E-Commerce segment was 26.2
percent higher at EUR 64.5 million, while that of the Technologies segment
climbed 17.8 percent to reach EUR 7.9 million. The Portal segment achieved
a 2.4 percent increase in revenue to end the year on EUR 19.8 million.
Group earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Group
EBITDA) stood at EUR 12.6 million, equivalent to a rise of 32.1 percent on
the figure of EUR 9.6 million for 2008.
At EUR 8.9 million, Group earnings before interest and taxes (Group EBIT)
also showed a marked improvement on the previous year's figure of EUR 5.7
million to end the year up 55.9 percent.
Group earnings before taxes (Group EBT) rose by a substantial 53.4 percent
from the 2008 level of EUR 3.0 million to reach EUR 4.7 million in the
financial year 2009.
At EUR 2.1 million, consolidated net income (loss) for the year before
minority interest recorded a slight decline of 8 percent on the
corresponding figure of EUR 2.3 million for 2008.
By contrast, consolidated net income (loss) for the year after minority
interest showed a year-on-year increase of 19.2 percent from EUR 2.3
million to EUR 2.9 million.
Total Group net income (loss) was also up at EUR 2.4 million, compared to
EUR 2.3 million in 2008. This is equivalent to a rise of 4.1 percent.
Consolidated earnings per share rose 20 percent from EUR 0.05 in 2008 to
EUR 0.06 for the financial year 2009.
Taking into account the charges against earnings referred to above,
adjusted consolidated earnings per share were as much as 60 percent higher
at EUR 0.08.
The Group's operating segments were also able to boost their operating
results. EBITDA in the E-Commerce segment was up EUR 2.3 million at EUR
17.2 million, and there were corresponding increases in both the Portal
segment, where EBITDA rose by EUR 1.3 million to minus EUR 1.1 million, and
the Technologies segment, which put on EUR 0.1 million to reach EUR 1.7
million.
In the view of the Management Board, the pleasing increases in revenue and
earnings achieved in 2009 suggest the Group will be able to continue its
established pattern of growth in 2010.
