InterNetX: .CO Sunrise A kicks off successfully
The Sunrise phase of the .CO launch plan is underway and InterNetX, the only accredited European registrar for .CO domains, is gearing up to meet strong demand.
(firmenpresse) - (REGENSBURG, April 2010) – The Sunrise phase for .CO domains began on April 1. This phase of the .CO launch plan gives trademark owners the possibility to protect their trademark and register the corresponding second-level .CO domain. The phase is divided into two parts, Local Sunrise A and Global Sunrise B. Sunrise A (April 1 – 20, 2010) gives preference to owners of Colombian trademarks, while Sunrise B (April 26 – June 10, 2010) is open to international trademark holders.
Director of Sales and Marketing at InterNetX, Hakan Ali, is feeling optimistic at the start of .CO Sunrise: “The .CO domain extension delivers a strong global message – for companies as well as for individuals. The first part of Sunrise is directed to holders of Colombian trademarks. This gives us the opportunity to double-check and optimize our processes and gear up for the strong demand anticipated in Sunrise B. I’m very satisfied with the current state of affairs. To ensure proper allocation of domain names in Sunrise, applications for .CO domains go through a validation process by Deloitte, an internationally established auditing company. Applications for .CO domain names are collected and domain names allocated immediately following the conclusion of the phases. The registry for .CO has opted for an auction process in case there are any matching applications for the same domain name.
The .CO registry .CO Internet S.A.S. has accredited 10 registrars worldwide to participate in the .CO launch. InterNetX is the only accredited .CO registrar in Europe, once again meeting the strictest of criteria. “.CO is a truly unique, global, recognizable and credible domain extension. The Sunrise phase will be followed by Landrush, in June 2010, in which domains with high commercial value can be registered.
