bmp AG/bmp Media Investors: New investment in vertical techmedia

bmp AG (ISIN DE0003304200) announces a new investment by its subsidiary bmp
Media Investors AG&Co. KGaA, which focuses on the area of media and
marketing services. On 23 April 2010, bmp Media Investors AG&Co. KGaA
acquired 22.5% of the online marketer vertical techmedia AG i.G. (VTM)
through a capital increase. Together with co-investor Software&Support
Verlag GmbH, financing in a six-figure amount has been committed.
VTM markets the advertising inventory of selected upmarket online brands in
the areas of IT and consumer electronics (CE). As a vertical network, VTM
provides advertisers with access to decision-makers, consumers and
multipliers with an interest in these topics. The advertisers can reach
these target groups easily and effectively through VTM with customised
offers for individual sites or by booking specific channels through several
sites.
Vertical networks are increasingly becoming established as an alternative
to 'blind' networks and the major generalists in online publishing. They
enable publishers of high-value content to generate significantly higher
sales from online marketing and also to gain greater transparency and more
individual services. The collaboration between marketers and site operators
generally also applies to the editorial development of the respective offer
(audience development).
Alongside standardised offers such as banners, special forms of advertising
such as 'targeted editorial integration' are increasingly being aimed for,
as these have a significantly better performance and appeal more to the
target groups. VTM supports companies and agencies as early as the campaign
planning and provides additional services.
The experienced team headed by Hermann Eiden and Jens Schmidtmann is
characterised by excellent contacts in the agency world and direct access
to brand manufacturers in the IT and CE sectors. Hermann Eiden is the
co-founder of Tom's Guides Publishing AG, which was also a bmp investment
until the successful exit in 2007, and was most recently responsible for
the regions of Germany, Eastern Europe and Northern Europe.
