Minister Toews Commends Law Enforcement on Disruption of Drug Trafficking Ring

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/02/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, made the following statement today after the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) announced the dismantling of a major international organized drug network, responsible for the large-scale drug importation and trafficking of cocaine into Canada. There were five related arrests following an investigation by a Joint Task force, known as "Project INK Part 2". Led by the NRPS, the Joint Force included members of the Canada Border Services Agency, the RCMP, York Regional Police Service, Toronto Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST), Vancouver Police Department, Correctional Service of Canada, Surete du Quebec and Montreal Police.
"I commend the authorities involved whose efforts led to the disruption of this drug network. This government will continue to work with law enforcement partners at the local, national and international level to address the global drug problem, so that our communities are safe places for people to live, raise their families and do business."
