Pöyry awarded engineering and project services contract by Kevitsa Mining in Finland

Pöyry has been awarded engineering and project services contract by Kevitsa
Mining AB, a subsidiary of First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (FQML), for its Kevitsa
nickel/copper concentrator project in Northern Finland. The value of the
contract is expected to exceed EUR 5 million.
Within the scope of its service contract, Pöyry will support FQML to meet their
project targets that include sound safety practises and compliance with
environmental regulations. The total investment cost for the whole mine project
is an estimated USD 400 million. Commercial production of the minerals is
expected to begin in mid 2012.
Kevitsa is located 140 kilometres north of Rovaniemi, in Finnish Lapland. It is
one of the world's largest undeveloped sulphide nickel deposits with important
copper, cobalt and platinum by-product credits. FQML, a growing mining and
metals company, is engaged in mineral exploration, development, mining and
refining. The Company produces LME grade "A" copper cathode, copper in
concentrate, gold and sulphuric acid.
Pöyry has been a key player in many of the minerals processing projects in the
Nordic countries, and is further strengthening its role by increasing its
presence in Northern Finland.
