Pöyry awarded detail design contract for hydropower plants in Albania
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - PÿYRY PLC Press release 3 December 2009 at 2.15 p.m.Pöyry has been awarded the detail design contract for the Ashtarun-of-river power plants in Albania by Energji Ashta Shpk, asubsidiary of Verbund International. The value of the contractexceeds EUR 2 million.The Ashta hydropower plants are located on the river Drin in thedistrict of Shkodër in north-western Albania. The project consists oftwo stages, Ashta I and Ashta II, which are the final steps in acascade of three existing power plants. The combined design capacityof the Ashta plants is over 50 MW and their forecasted annual energygeneration is 230 GWh.Pöyry already performed the conceptual approval and tender design forthe Ashta hydropower project. The detail construction design includesthe guideline drawings for the weir, powerhouses, headrace andtailrace channel and all appurtenant structures, as well as theexecution design for the civil construction works.
