SCHNEIDER KREUZNACH presents photo art by Andreas Gursky on its 100th anniversary

(PresseBox) - Jos. Schneider Optische Werke GmbH is holding its fifth photo art exhibition from 23 February to 31 March 2013 under the heading ?Photo Art V ? Andreas Gursky?. In its anniversary year, the company has managed to attract one of the most successful international photo artists with the help of Sprüth Magers art gallery. Gursky?s works are on display in some of the most important museums around the world, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York. ?We have converted a historic building on our premises especially for this exhibition and are delighted to be able to present work by world-famous photo artist Andreas Gursky,? says Dr. Josef Staub, CEO of the Schneider Group.
Andreas Gursky?s photos deal with zeitgeist phenomena, creating condensed witnesses of particular moments in time. He achieves this both with digitally unmanipulated photographic works that permeate his entire oeuvre and with computer-based image processing, which he uses to merge several moments into one piece of work. It is an almost cinematic approach.
Andreas Gursky was born in Leipzig in 1955. He studied at Folkwang University of the Arts (GHS) in Essen from 1978 to 1981 and at Dusseldorf Art Academy from 1981 to 1987 under Prof. Bernd Becher. In the 2010 summer term, he was appointed professor of liberal arts at Dusseldorf Art Academy.
The exhibition is being held on the premises of Jos. Schneider Optische Werke, Ringstrasse 132, in Bad Kreuznach. It is open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free.
