These garments help make life easier for everyone and usually have some type of special feature that will help the ailing person. These garments are made from various types of materials including nylon, cotton, wool and acrylic. Depending on the illness or disability there may be a different material used to keep the illness or disability in check. These garments usually have some type of zipper, button and/or Velcro to help secure the back of the garment for easy dress and undress.
There are various diseases and illnesses that will require specialty garments to help ensure the safety of the disable person. You want the garment to keep the disable person safe as well as not re-aggravate the injury. There are a lot of different illnesses and disabilities that will require the need of special clothing. These disabilities and illnesses include Diabetes, stroke, spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy and oedema. For aliments such as diabetes there may be special socks, gowns and even headwear worn to keep the person as healthy as possible.
There are all types of functions and features that are apart of adaptive clothing. For those that are elderly or can not feed themselves, there are adult bibs that allow the disable person to stay clean. With some adaptive clothing there is a back flap that allows disable people to use the bathroom with as much ease as possible. This also comes in handy when a accident occurs and a care-giver must clean the disable person by hand. Women’s handicapped clothing and women’s disable clothing can be found on the internet. There are numerous sites that give discounts for bulk purchases.
