(firmenpresse) - QUINTE WEST, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/12/13 -- Mr. Gordon Moore, Dominion President of The Royal Canadian Legion, accompanied by His Worship, Mayor John Williams, and Hugh O'Neil for the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial Fund, made a donation of more than 160,000 dollars to the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial Fund earlier today at The Royal Canadian Legion branch in Trenton.

"This is not a government initiative, but solely funded by Canadians honoring Canadian soldiers. For this reason, and on behalf of the more than 320,000 members of The Royal Canadian Legion, I am pleased to make this donation to help the organizers reach this goal," said Mr. Moore.

"The Legion funds collected for the establishment of the monument were raised from more than 1,400 Legion branches at home and abroad and represents another tangible example of the Legion`s support for our modern day Veterans and our commitment to Remembrance and never forgetting those who have made the ultimate sacrifice," concluded Mr. Moore.

All Canadians who wish to give to those who gave and support this project are encouraged to do so by visiting the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial project at: .

Located on the Bay of Quinte and Canadian Forces Base Trenton, the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial is a fitting tribute not far from where Canadian repatriation ceremonies occur and at the beginning of our fallen soldiers' journey along the Highway of Heroes, from Trenton to Toronto.
