Dr. Wayne Hickory Continues to Be a Leading Invisalign(R) Educator and Practitioner

Most recently Dr. Hickory attended the US Invisalign® Summit meeting held in Las Vegas, NV. The conference brought together orthodontists and staff from leading Invisalign® practices throughout America to share the techniques that contribute to their ongoing success.

According to Dr. Hickory, the introduction of a new scanner to create a 3D model of a patient's teeth was a highlight of the Summit. He says scanning is a more accurate alternative to impression molds. Additionally, patients prefer a 3D camera to impression material, which can cause anxiety about breathing or swallowing.
One of Dr. Hickory's team members, Meisha Heron, participated in the "Iron Records" competition at the Summit and was named the fastest scanner in the US. She can accurately capture the 3D model of a patient's teeth using Invisalign's digital technology in less than seven minutes. Dr. Hickory says the team-building event illustrated how efficient and convenient the new technology is.
Previously, Dr. Hickory -- who originally introduced Invisalign® in Hong Kong nearly a decade ago -- attended an Invisalign® Summit in Macau, China. The Summit gathered leading Invisalign® practitioners from countries throughout Asia and beyond. The , who serves as the Clinical Director for the companies that distribute Invisalign® in Indonesia and Vietnam, teaches certification courses and administers advanced user group meetings in these countries several times a year.
Dr. Hickory is one of the first orthodontists in the entire country to offer ® treatments. He has always exhibited a passion for orthodontic education and previously taught as a full-time faculty member of the Orthodontic Department at the University of Amsterdam and the University of Maryland. In addition, he co-authored a chapter of a new textbook on facial aesthetics that highlights the new digital technology used for treatments such as Invisalign®.
earned his master's degree in nutritional science at Boston University, School of Graduate Dentistry and earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He is extensively trained in several areas, including and child orthodontics. Dr. Hickory has received the status as an Invisalign® Super Elite Provider, a designation that is held by less than 1% of all doctors offering the Invisalign® system nationwide.
